Skerries author of GRINGER the WHINGER, Jane Landy visited Scoil Réalt na Mara today.
Jane spent time in both Junior Infant classes to conduct bookwriting workshops and also dropped into Rang 2.
The classes had an amazing time and Jane explained where the ideas in the book came from and engaged in a bookwriting session with the pupils. The pupils had an amazing time learning all about Gringer.
The book was brought to life in a most magical way by Jane!
The picture Book Gringer the Whingeris about a legendary Skerries Dragon and has been fully published and printed in Ireland.
Links below to an Independent news piece about the book and a link to the book website with lots of further information.
D’úsáid Jane a lán gaeilge leis na páistí agus múinteoirí inniu. Maith thú Jane agus go raibh maith agat!
Content and Language Learning Integrated (CLIL) Project.
Following an application process, were delighted to receive official letter on Thursday from the Minister of Education and Skills, Mr. Joe Mc Hugh, informing us that Scoil Réalt na Mara has been selected as 1 of 6 primary schools nationwide to participate in the pilot phase of the CLIL project.
The pilot phase of the project will focus on a total of 19 educational settings which include secondary, primary and early years settings.
CLIL is a 3 year pilot project to promote the use of Irish as a teaching medium within different subjects and contexts in the school setting and it is an approach that is very much in keeping with the ethos and approach already adopted in Scoil Réalt na Mara by parents, pupils and the school staff.
Year 1 will be a development phase focusing on the Professional Development needs of participating teachers, the development of resources and assessment tools.
We are really delighted to share this news with you and we thank you as parents and pupils for your continued support for the school ethos. We view this as a positive affirmation of all of our efforts to date to promote the natural and incidental use of Irish throughout the school, at home and beyond.
I ndiaidh próiseas iarratais, bhí áthas orainn litir oifigiúil a fháil ar an Déardaoin ón Aire Oideachais agus Scileanna, an tUasal Joe Mc Hugh, ag cur in iúl dúinn gur roghnaíodh Scoil Réalt na Mara mar 1 as 6 bhunscoil ar fud na tíre chun páirt a ghlacadh sa chéim phíolótach den tionscadal FCÁT.
Díreoidh céim phíolótach an tionscadail ar 19 suíomh oideachais san iomlán lena n-áirítear suíomhanna meánscoile, bunscoileanna agus luathbhlianta.
Is tionscadal píolótach 3 bliana é CLIL chun úsáid na Gaeilge a chur chun cinn mar mheán teagaisc laistigh d’ábhair agus de chomhthéacsanna éagsúla i suíomh na scoile agus is cur chuige é atá ag teacht go mór leis an éiteas agus leis an gcur chuige atá i bhfeidhim cheana féin i Scoil Réalt na Mara ag tuismitheoirí, daltaí agus foireann na scoile.
Céim forbartha a bheidh i mBliain 1 ag díriú ar riachtanais Fhorbairt Ghairmiúil na múinteoirí rannpháirteacha, ar fhorbairt acmhainní agus uirlisí measúnaithe.
Tá an-áthas orainn an nuacht seo a roinnt libh agus gabhaimid buíochas libh mar thuismitheoirí agus mar dhaltaí as ucht an tacaíocht leanúnach a thugann sibh d’éiteas na scoile. Féachaimid air seo mar dhearbhú dearfach ar ár n-iarrachtaí go léir go dtí seo chun úsáid nádúrtha agus theagmhasach na Gaeilge a chur chun cinn ar fud na scoile, sa bhaile agus níos faide anonn.
