Laoch ar lár – A hero has fallen.

We pay the warmest of tributes to Eoghan Ó Broin – Eoghan Byrne.

We were so fortunate to have Eoghan with us in Scoil Réalt na Mara from 2002 – 2010.

As word reached the school we were all so saddened and shocked by the news from Vancouver.

Teachers who knew and remember Eoghan spoke of his warmth, his caring and  considerate nature. A true friend, never the centre of attention nor would he wish to be but always there  as a friend and  caring classmate to others. Diligent and calm with a steely determination that would continue to develop and blossom as the years progressed.

We think of  Eoghan in Scoil Réalt na Mara with great pride and affection.  We think of the potential that he realised and his successes in both his studies and his work. We think of the ever-present care and love of his parents and his siblings and the closeness of a  wonderful  family.

Our hearts reach out to Mary, Eugene, Susan and James.

We would wish to wrap you up in all the warmth and affection of all in Scoil  Réalt na Mara.

We are so proud that part of Eoghan’s journey was with us in Réalt na Mara,

and take solace that he walked with us and laughed and  played amongst us.

We view Eoghan’s time with us as a blessing.

We think particularly of his friends, classmates and peers at this  most challenging of times.

A gentle, gentle boy. A hero to us all.

A Thiarna, tabhair suaimhneas síoraí, i bpáirt le do chuid naomh, do Eoghan.

Smaoinímid, freisin, orthu siúd go léir a chaill gaolta gairide agus cairde leo le déanaí.

Go lonraí solas suthain orthu go léir agus go dtuga Dia sólás dóibh siúd inár measc atá faoi bhrón.
