Scoil Réalt na Mara – Parents Council Newsletter – October 2018

Tá fáilte romhaibh go léir ar ais chuig Scoil Réalt na Mara. A big warm Réalt Na Mara welcome to all, especially our new pupils and parents.

The members of the Parents Council are volunteers who give their time to support and assist the school in providing equipment and facilities for the benefit of our children. There was a great response to our appeal for new members.   The committee for 2018-19 is as follows:  Brenda Lynch, Chairperson,  Sandra Byrne, Secretary, Sheila Brennan, Treasurer, Catríona Grimes,  Louise Kane, Shirley Francis, Nicky Walsh,  Ita Fogarty, Hanna McManus, Rosie Moore, Valerie Roche, Joanne Ellis,  Noeleen Loughran, Rachel Marsh, In. Uí Lionnáin and In. Uí Odhráin.

As you all know, these benefits for our children cost money so we have to fundraise during the year.  We know it’s not always easy for parents to get to events so we plan to have some more family and child centred events during the year and we look forward to your ongoing support!

So what’s coming up – plans for the coming year 2018/19:

Halloween Pumpkin Sale

It’s back – we’ve found a new supplier and the Pumpkin Sale will take place on Thurs 25th and Fri 26th October this year in the Halla and Junior Yard – watch out for more details.

Quarterly Draw   –  Are you in with a chance to win €400 every quarter?

A main staple of school fundraising for many years now with a prize fund of €2,400 every year.  Cost of entry is €4 per month – we will be promoting the draw during November and entry forms will be available.  If you’re not in, you can’t win!

School Calendars  and Christmas Cards

The calendar will be back, with a photo of each class, these can be purchased in time for Christmas and they make ideal Christmas presents for grandparents etc.   We are also looking at doing Christmas cards this year.

Christmas and Easter Raffles

Tickets will be distributed through the school with a chance to win great prizes.

Scoil Réalt na Mara is 40!

The school celebrates it’s fortieth anniversary this school year.  We will be working with the school to mark this milestone.

Parking and Safety of children travelling to school

In the interests of our children’s safety, we again ask people not to park on the yellow “School Keep Clear” markings or outside any of the school gates. Also do not park at or obstruct the driveways of houses on either side of the school

Keeping in touch with what is happening……

Keep an eye on the school website  – it is a great source of information about what is happening in the school – especially good if there are any major weather events!
